Pub Crawl - Stone 14th Annv. - Friday, August 20th, we drove south from Madera, CA to Lengthwise Brewing in Bakersfield and
stopped for lunch. Dad enjoyed a Centennial IPA and I finally tried Just Outstanding IPA from Kern River.

Back on the road we merged onto I5 south and drove through the Grapevine and into the LA basin. We exited 57 in Placentia and discovered The Bruery for the first time. I chose Iniquitous, which I now see is retired (glad I tried it), and Dad had one of the Humulus, either the Bruin or the Gold.

One quick pint and we were on our way south to Escondido to check in to our hotel. And for dinner we jumped back on I15, thought we were headed toward Pizza Port but ended up at Oggi's in Temecula. A McGarvey's Scottish for me and Torrey Pines IPA for Dad.

The next morning was the big Stone 14th Anniversary party. Waaay too many beers to list but we finished around 4pm and made our way west to Carlsbad to
have a dinner at Pizza Port. We had been looking forward to visiting one of the locations since we
had such a great tasting at the Boonville beer fest in May. Big time crowded, assuming people came from the Stone event, or Pizza Port is just a popular place. Still buzzing from the event, the pizza
tasted extra delicious and the beer was great. We even had time to peruse the bottle shop next door.

The next morning we visited the Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens. I had been looking forward to this since 2006 when I surprised a late night brewer at their old location and had to go home thirsty when he told me they only did tastings on Saturday afternoon. We snagged tickets for the tour and sat ourselves down for a brunch and pints.
I had heard they served an excellent flight of beer, but was disappointed when the flight brought to the table was exactly what we were going to get in 30 minutes on the tour.

After the tour, my mom and Nikki didn't care to drink the tasters so dad and I were 'forced' to drink an extra set each. Whew! That is a lot of beer in a short amount of time.

Total: 1,535 miles
