| Pub Crawl - NorCal - Friday,
November 30th, Dad, Scott and I drove north from Madera, CA to Iron Springs
in Fairfax, just north of the Golden Gate. The sampler took care of us
and we had lunch at a local park. Off the beaten path just outside of
Guerneville, we found Stumptown. Very eclectic but warm and welcoming
with an amazing deck overlooking the Russian River, this place is for
the locals. We rolled into Eureka after 9pm, found our way into the woods where our relatives live and discovered a box of local brew chilling outside. Good start to our visit. We woke up early and drove to Blue Lake and were the first guests to take the Saturday tour of Mad River. Bought a poster and headed to Six Rivers. We knew of this place from the sample of Chili beer we had at Boonville that year. My aunt knew the brewer so I had him sign my tasting journal. Very busy for lunch and great beer all around. We drove back through Eureka and down to Fortuna where we enjoyed a couple of pints from Eel River. I didn't discover until later that they have a massive beer garden in the back. We finished the day up with Lost Coast and I have never been to this joint when it wasn't packed and jumpin'! Great stout and IPA. To finish up the trip we left Sunday and stopped at Ukiah Brewing, a place we had passed many times before. Classic building right in downtown, but a little slow on a Sunday afternoon. Would love to see this place on a Friday or Saturday night.Total: 986 miles |
